Dogs duck their head and lift their legs as they go through, so the flap only needs to be a little taller than your dog’s body — not the whole dog. What decides the model is your dog’s shoulder height (floor to the top of the shoulders), because the fitted opening must finish at least 25mm above it. Each model has a typical maximum shoulder height. Openings are given as the usable opening, width × height — the clear opening with the flap swung out of the way.

| Small Dog Door (wood) | 180 × 227mm | Up to about 360mm | Jack Russell, Cavalier, Pug, French Bulldog; large cats | W-SDD range |

| Over 500mm | — | Labrador, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Boxer and larger | At or above the top of the range — measure width and body depth first; a larger door is in development | Contact our team |
Shoulder-height limits assume the bottom of the opening is fitted level with the dog’s belly and the top finishes at least 25mm above the shoulders — the Medium door’s 450–500mm is the figure printed on its packaging. Also check that your dog’s width + 25mm and body depth (top of shoulders to bottom of chest) + 25mm fit inside the usable opening. Within 30mm of a limit, or an older dog? Choose the next size up.
